Xueshan Feng from Stanford has made public (GPL) Mailman patches to integrate with Stanford's WebAuth architecture. I'm planning to adapt them to accept generic CGI REMOTE_USER authentication rather than Stanford's specific system so Mailman can be used in a SPNEGO/mod_auth_krb environment as well as any other Apache auth backend system.
